About theresonlyonetandoc.com, and who is 'Tandoc'?

First and foremost, this website is a little bit of a misnomer, as there is actually more than one 'Tandoc'. However, within the subset of the entire human population that is my circle of friends, there happens to be only one 'Tandoc'. It should also be known that I am not some modern culture icon so popular that I am mononymous, but my first name, Andrew, is so common, many prefer to simply refer to me by my last name, you guessed it, Tandoc.

You may also notice the rather static nature of this page, and entire site (apart from the random splash page image). This is in part due to my own laziness. However, with the advent of 'Web 2.0' and its associated social facets, one quickly realises that maintaining an independent website with little content (none, in this case perhaps) simply isn't worth it, and that it is easier simply to establish my online precense through established means. So I'll update this page every so often, as the months/years pass by. Hopefully, my CV will eventually find its way here accompanied by some projects I will have finished.

If you had read the previous two paragraphs you will already know me as Tandoc; I am a 3rd year undergraduate at the University of Melbourne as of 2009, pursuing a combined degree consisting of a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Arts. Specifically, I'm majoring in Software Engineering and Japanese. As to what I wish to do with these acquired trades, I still don't know ;)

On a humourous, yet slightly depressing note, some time in 2008 while studying a text for my Japanese class, I came across the phonetic equivalent of my name, Tandoc, in one of our texts. The word is 単独, obviously read as tandoku, and can translate more-or-less to 'alone'. Where's the humour is being alone, you ask? Think about the name of this website? Haha, get it? Quite the coincidence. A fate I hope not to be resigned to, however...
